Snowscooter Vatnajökull, 2/scooter

At the southern edge of Langjokull, Europe's second largest glacier, there is a hut, from where snowscooter trips can be made. This is, however, quite high up, and the track that leads there is steep, winding and narrow. It is only possible to drive up there in a good jeep, not in a normal car! Fortunately though, transport is available, from the main road, the circle road nr. 1. So the tour is available with, or without jeep transport to and from the mountain hut at the edge of the glacier.

To get to Ingólfshöfði we cross 6 km of waters, marshes and sands in a tractor-drawn hay cart. The drive takes about 20-30 minutes each way, so we spend about 1 1/2 hour hiking around the cape.
