Action on East Glacial River

Feed your inner adrenaline junkie! This is the setting for our most intense and most challenging day trip, on what has been rated one of Europe's best commercially rafted rivers. An exhilarating rush through some of Iceland's most spectacular whitewater, deep in the magnificent gorges of the East Glacial River canyon. An action-packed adventure guaranteed to keep your face wet and your heart pumping!

Like all of our tours the trip begins with the check in at our office in Varmahlíð. From here you can take the bus shuttle or your own car 15 km to the base camp, where you will meet your guides and safety kayakers and get briefed as to the game plan for the day. After getting fitted for all necessary equipment, we take you for a 45 minutes drive up into the Austurdalur valley and go over relevent instruction and thorough safety guidelines. Then let the adventure begin, as you commit yourself to imposing grandeur of the East River gorge, taking on such rapids as "The Lost", "Screaming Lady", "Green Room", and "Deep Fry". Keep your buzz alive and celebrate your achievements with an 8m cliff jump (conditions permitting) immediately following the last of the river's major rapids. Then cap off the thrill ride by paddling the final stretch of the East and out into the calmer waters of the Héraðsvötn River, where you will have one last chance to bathe in the invigorating purity of Icelandic glacial water! Classification: Difficult to very Difficult long turbulent rapids with powerful waves and holes, many obstacles requiring precise maneu- vering in turbulent water. Strong waves, boiling eddies,dangerous rocks and hydraulics.

Duration: 6-7 hours

Departures for minimum 4 persons from the 15th April to the 30th of September:
Monday - Friday at 09:30 AM.
Saturdays at 8:30 AM and at 14:30.
Sundays at 10:30 AM.
